Description

Would have been nice if the Jellyfish nebula fitted into the frame. Anyway, this is the space in between star cluster M35, star Propus (both in Gemini) and the Monkey Head nebula (NGC 2174 in Orion). An hour and ten minutes integration ain't a lot but you have to make the best of what you can get.

This time I did not use the LPR II as it reflects the ghost of the image sensor. Also, my quad band filter produced halos around stars though threaded directly in front of the sensor. It appears as if 135mm focal length is too short for this kind of filters which depend on the light incident angle in that I used an IR-Cut filter with ease of mind.

In order to avoid spikes around stars I used a step-down ring Ø77-52mm stopping the lens at around f/2.4 causing vignetting, but this can be removed by background extraction, even safer, with calibration flats.

Else, there is nothing special about this image, just abusing a short period of sky window.
